Evaluation of the best solution for the functionalization of photocatalytic, superhydrophobic, and self-cleaning properties on asphalt mixtures

This research aims to develop asphalt mixtures with new capabilities, namely photocatalytic, superhydrophobic, and self-cleaning capabilities. Different solutions were prepared combining nano-TiO 2 micro-PTFE on water, ethyl alcohol, dimethyl ketone different concentrations. The sprayed over the mixtures, photocatalytic superhydrophobic capabilities evaluated via decolourization of Rhodamine B dye aqueous solution under simulated solar irradiation Water Contact Angle (WCA) measurements, respectively. Among combinations analysed, best was TiO -PTFE alcohol (8 g/L), which provided a about 60% after having spent 8 h in light exposure conditions surface WCA equal 153º. Thus, this work contribute advances field clean technologies, assisting transition “Green Recovery”, is environmentally friendly, inclusive, sustainable.
